What is the difference between a standard foundation and a high profile foundation?
For consumers who don't want the extra height that comes with today's thicker mattresses, Sealy offers standard foundations. These foundations are 5.5" tall as opposed to the high foundations which are approximately 9.25" tall. This reduces the overall height of the sleep set by almost 4" which can make the bed easier to get into and out of. Both the standard and high profile foundations cost the same and both support the mattress properly. Many customers find that their sleep set with a standard foundation looks better when placed on their beds. We recommend the standard foundation unless you specifically need the extra height of a high profile foundation.
Should I replace my box spring when purchasing a new mattress?
Yes! All new mattresses today are designed to work in conjunction with the foundations. A good foundation is as important as a good mattress because it acts much like a large shock absorber, taking a lot of the nightly wear and tear. The foundation to your bed is essential to ensure your comfort and support. Also, none of the major manufacturers will honor their warranties if a new mattress is placed on an old foundation. If the old foundation is defective internally, it may cause your new mattress to fail.
Does a mattress need to be firm in order to be good for me?
No! Sealy Posturepedic sleep sets offer correct support regardless of comfort level or price. Whether your Sealy sleep set is firm, plush or ultra-plush, it will provide you with the proper back support that is so important for a restful nights sleep.
Why are today's mattresses so thick? Will my current sheets fit? Will I be able to find deep pocket sheets?
Today's mattresses are manufactured using a wide range of high tech foams and upholstery materials and they are all now one-sided. Many consumers prefer plush and ultra-plush mattresses and those feels can only be achieved by using multiple layers of foam and fibers which result in thicker mattresses than in years past. You can find deep-pocketed sheets in most retail stores today or online.
How do I maintain consistent comfort feel throughout the life of my bedding?
We recommend that you rotate your Sealy mattress on a regular basis to refresh its comfort. Mattresses contain many layers of upholstery padding to increase their comfort life and support performance. Body indentations can be a normal occurrence in new mattresses, and indicate that the upholstery layers are conforming to a person's individual body contours. To help minimize body impressions, mattresses should be turned occasionally throughout their life.
How do I care for my mattress?
Here are a few tips to ensure that you get the most comfort and longest life from your new sleep set.
Make sure the sleep set is installed properly. All sleep sets should be installed on a sturdy metal bed frame with center support for queen and king size sleep sets. We offer both standard (adequate) frames and extra sturdy (deluxe) frames. If the sleep set is going on an existing bed in your home, make sure that the bed has sturdy center support when using queen or king mattress and foundation.
Rotate the mattress. Do this several times during the first three months, and then, at least two or three times a year.
Use a protective mattress pad. This will help you to keep your new mattress fresh and free from stains. Manufacturer's warranties require that the mattress be free of stains and soiling or else, the warranty is void.
Let it breathe. There may be slight odors from the various materials used in your sleep set. If you detect odors, allow the bed to "air out". These mild odors should dissipate within a week or so.
Don't Dry Clean. The chemicals used in dry cleaning and spot removing products may damage the mattress cover or materials inside your mattress. Vacuuming on a regular basis is the best way to keep your sleep set fresh and clean.
Don't remove the tag. The information on the tag will be needed if you have issues with your new sleep set.
Save original receipts and warranty papers. We suggest you put all related paperwork in a baggy and keep it between the mattress and foundation.
It's not a trampoline. Children jumping up and down on a mattress can cause damage inside the mattress or foundation. Mattresses are not designed for this sort of use and it may void your warranty

My new mattress doesn't feel the way I remember. I'm thinking about exchanging it. Do you have an exchange policy?
Yes, here is our Comfort Exchange policy:
When purchasing a new sleep set, there are a couple of things to be aware of. A new sleep set will be firmer on delivery than the floor model that you tried. All new mattresses will soften a bit in the first 90 days or so. Secondly, it may take several weeks for you to acclimate to a new sleep surface. Most people have been sleeping on the same sleep set for years and it's only natural that it might take awhile to get used to your new bed.
We ask that you sleep on your new sleep set for at least 30 days, to allow the bed to break in and to give your body time to adjust to the new sleep surface. Comfort exchanges cannot be offered less than 30 days after delivery. We will allow you up to 90 days, after delivery, to take advantage of a comfort exchange. If, after sleeping on your new sleep set for a minimum of 30 days, you are not happy with the comfort that the set provides, you may reselect any other mattress, of the same or higher value, within 90 days of delivery. One comfort exchange per customer.
You will receive a credit for the full price of your mattress purchase, less the original delivery charge, to apply towards your reselection. A $199 disposal charge and an additional delivery charge will be assessed on your reselection if you choose to have your reselection delivered. If you choose to return your mattress yourself and pick up your reselection you will be charged only the $199 disposal fee in addition to the price of your reselected mattress
Your box spring may not be exchanged under our comfort policy, The box spring does not affect the comfort of the mattress.
We will not exchange any mattress that is stained in any way whatsoever, due to state and federal laws designed to protect public health.
We will not exchange mattresses due to height issues. Our sales consultant will be happy to give you the height of your new sleep set and show you how to measure it's height on your current bed or bed frame. We recommend a low profile box spring with all new mattress sets.
Our comfort exchange policy applies to sets of Sealy Posturepedic, Stearns and Foster, Carrington Chase Latex, Sealy True Form Memory Foam and Bassett Dream Maker.
