Our Story
Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture is a privately owned furniture retailer based in Norton, Massachusetts. Started by the Rubin family in 1983, our family run business has grown from a small sleeper sofa storefront called Convertible Castle into one of the most successful furniture retailers in New England. We have been a Top 100 furniture retailer for the last 17 years with nine stores located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
Under the guidance of co-founders Bernie and Phyllis Rubin and now carried on by the 2nd and 3rd generations, Bernie & Phyl’s has earned a stellar reputation in the industry. Every facet of our company is infused with the philosophy that its founders learned as children — be honest and treat people the way you would want to be treated.

In the Community
Part of our legacy is giving back, and we are committed to supporting many causes, especially the efforts of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to improve treatments and find a cure for MS. We also support organizations such as the Veterans' Home Base National Center for Excellence, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Bridgewell, the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, the Home for Little Wanderers, as well as local schools, youth sports, and organizations in towns and cities with proximity to the stores.
